COMMENTS:
No current residents. Community lies due south of the city of Airway Heights. Follow Lawson rd south to McFarlane road. Lawson continues south as a two lane dirt trail. First structures are a few feet to the west from the enterance to this trail. Continue southward, two more foundations along eastern side of road, and one more foundation and grain silo/water tank type structure to the west in the field. REMAINS: Foundations, dilapidated structures |
Not much is currently known, although I am looking into it. It is known that before the existance of Airway Heights and Fairchild A.F.B. there were ranchers and wheat farmers settled into this area. Perhaps this is a small community of theirs? Submitted by: Nick McArthur UPDATE: I was recently doing some research into Greenwood. I found that there was a Post Office in Greenwood from 1890-1891. This information I found in a book of old postal codes for Washington State at the Spokane Library. I have also come across a couple of what my supervisor calls "can dumps". These are ares where old milk cans were dumped. Spokane International Airport currently owns the land where Greenwood sits. Robert Brown |
