Sherman has no current residents. Located north of Wilbur, it served a farming area with a school, church, and cemetary. Sherman, like most Eastern Washington ghosttowns flourished in the late 1800's when this area became developed for the rising demand for wheat. Since this time, with the falling wheat prices, farms became larger and far less people populate these areas. Better roads and newer vehicles enabled the population to travel to the larger areas for education, farm impliments and machinery, food and building materials. Spokane has now become the "new" hub for most of these people. Submitted by: Wayne Reid
