VANTAGE

NAME: Vantage
COUNTY: Kittitas
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cold winter
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Summer
COMMENTS: Plenty of residents; The river is right there & the Ginko Petrified forest.
REMAINS: Nothing really; old roads.

Reported to have been a little town until the early 1960's when the Grand Coulee Dam was put in; due to the fact that the river would be rising quite a bit, the residents relocated up the hill about two miles to it's present location. Submitted by: M. Eichelbrenner

Grand Coulee Dam was built in the 1930s. Vantage was moved to it's present location due to flooding when Wanapum dam was constructed, a few miles south of Vantage, in the early 1960's. Lake Wanapum was created by the dam and flooded the original town site.
