The town of Alaska was famous for its coal mine. Operated by the Alaska Coal and Coke company, this mine was operational from 1890 through 1914. The headhouse was located approximately one mile from the mine opening and it is assumed that gravity was used to move the coal. There were 17 structures here. Today only a handful of foundations remain. |
