| This location went by the name of Elmo from approximately 1885 through 1930 and consisted of a town and a railroad station. The associated mine closed during the 1930s and then in 1941 the Ames mining company began operations and changed the name. Ames comes from the names of four nearby mines, the Ajax, Michigan, Elmo and Sunnyside. Only foundations remain. |
