Putney was a coal mining town located approximately 12 miles up Campbell's Creek in Kanawha County. A book has been published about Putney and the industry & jobs it provided back in the early 1900's. My grandfather worked in the mines there. There was a railroad that carried coal to the Kanawha River. Many people made their homes there. There was a church and a company store there also. Submitted by: Pam Pleasants |
