NAME: Anderson flat COUNTY: U.S.A ROADS: 2WD GRID: 2 CLIMATE: Snow in winter/hot summer BEST TIME TO VISIT: Summer/early spring |
COMMENTS: No current residents, checked on it 30 miles south of Harrison, Ar,15 miles from the Buffalo river. Right on 235 south until you see a white sign that says Anderson Flat cemetery, and to the right is the old school house. And a mile up the road is the cemetery. REMAINS: School house/cemetary |
The first name of the town was Verona,Ark. In the early 1900s. And later for some reason it was change to anderson flat. It was destroyed twice by dust bowl conditions in the early 1900s and 1930s. I cant find any living residence of the town. There was also a settlement of indians that lived nearby the town. But same conditions forced them to move. There are some artifacts found nearby but you have to look close and some old remaining rock walls a few miles down. Submitted by: Mike Stephen |
