Oro Grande was founded in 1901 by a $2000 gold strike that brought a mining sensation to the Black Rock district. $250,000 was put into the operation but less than $50,000 ever came out. Oro Grande had its own 10-stamp mill and even its own pumping plant at the Hassayampa river. Not much is left today and part of the trip must be walked.
