Tiger's post office was established as Schultz on July 12, 1894 and discontinued November 26, 1954. Discovered in 1881, Tiger went on to have about 1800 residents. The nearby town of Mammoth served as the milling site and an aerial tramway was constructed between the two towns. After World War I the town was bought and the name changed to Tiger. When the mines played out the town was shut down.
