Samoa was built by John Vance in 1893 and his heirs on 270 acres . It was purchased by Hammond Lumber Co., which ran it until 1956 . It was then purchased by Georgia Pacific Corp. Then it was purchased by Louisiana-Pacific in 1972. Finally, it was purchased by Simpson Timber Co. in 1997. Submitted by: George Bisconer
