Boreas was a station on the Boreas Pass Route running from Como to Breckenridge. Named for the Greek God of the North Wind, this perilous trail ran up to 11,498 feet and had fierce winds and 4.5% grades. There were many other stops on this pass; Farnum, Bakers Pass, Bacon, Halfway, and Peabody's.
