No access, private property. REMAINS: Many original buildings. |
A popular resort area now, Dunton was first established in 1885 due to many claims on the West Dolores River. The peak population was about 300 people. By 1918 the mines played out and the town was abandoned and sold to Joe and Dominica Roscio who turned it into a dude ranch. The family still owns the dude ranch at the site and has kept many of the buildings original. Submitted by: Ghosttowns.com |
