PARK CITY

NAME: Park City
COUNTY: Jackson
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Not accessible in winter, good access in spring, summer and fall.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Summer and fall through November.
COMMENTS: This 'ghost' town is actually said to be haunted. Big game hunters who have camped here in the fall have reported to have heard 'strange' sounds in the night. Voice and the sounds of picks and shovels working the ground were the common noises to have been reported. Some hunters have even broken camp and moved to another area.
REMAINS: Old foundations and log walls of over a dozen cabins.
Even though Park City wasn't as famous as its neighbor, Teller City, it was still a major silver boom town with 800 to 1000 residents. Silver was discovered prior to 1880 but that is the year that a post office was located here. Not much additional history is recorded about the town but it is a very interesting site to visit because not to many people know about it. There are scores of old foundations and well over a dozen walls of old cabins still standing. It was abandoned in 1884 when the price of silver dropped. Apprently there must have been a fire sometime because charred remains of some cabins can be seen. Submitted by: Jay Warburton

One of Jay's friends is having fun catching trout in a nearby mountain lake. There is superb fishing in the local creeks and rivers in the area, also.
