Very few things to see or do. Most of the buildings are are refurbished, or vacation-type housing (cabins). REMAINS: Almost nothing original |
Nice, tiny town. If you are looking for a ghosttowning experience, this on isn't bad, but do not try to go to nearby American City unless you have serious 4WD. I made the mistake of doing this trip in a 1992 Grand Marquis and was taking my life in my hands. The town is located at the bottom of Rollins Pass, not too far from Central City. In 1904, the Toll family changed the town name to Tolland. A luxury hotel (the Toll Inn) was built and Mrs. Toll was the postmistress for the town. Several original structures still exist and have been restored. Tolland is a quiet community of restored cabins and vacation residencies. Submitted by: Craig Garaas-Johnson |
