Current resort at the hot springs. REMAINS: Current Resort. |
The Soda and Sulphur springs here are what caused the town to spring up. So many people came here there was a trail worn through the woods, so in 1885, they built a two-story hotel along with swimming pool and bath houses. A post office was established and the resort area was established. In 1904, the post office closed as people had started moving out of the nearby area as mines played out. Then in 1916, it rose again as a resort town and it continued this popularity until 1941 when there were only 14 summer residents recorded. Today you can visit the hot springs and the current resort.
