Hicoria began in 1908 as a sawmill town and was a stop along the Atlantic Coastline Railroad line. The name came from a latinized version of the word Hickory. A post office was in service here from 1915 to 1943. Today the sawmill, post office, and most of the residents are gone, with little remaining from the town's past. Submitted by: Jim Pike
