Once called Goshen. It was laid out in 1855 and reached its peak in about 1881. It's demise started when the railroad went through 3 miles south. A new town, Maxwell, was started and Iowa Center's buildings were moved to Maxwell. There are still signs for "Iowa Center" on S27 north of Maxwell. Submitted by: Jerry Hale
