Placer mining was the mode of operations up and down the Middle Fork of the Boise River. Rock piles and gullies are in evidence created by the powerful streams of water directed into the hillsides. Miles of expensive flumes were built along the hills above the Boise River and Twin Springs was the center of these operations, which occurred about 1900.
