Prophet's Town was the home to the Shawnee chief Tecumseh's indian confederacy. At it's peak it was the home to over 1,000 warriors training to stop the westward expansion of the U.S. The town was destroyed on Nov. 7th, 1811, by the U.S. army commanded by Wm. H. Harrison after the Battle of Tippecanoe. The battle was at the site of the present-day town of Battleground. After seeing his hopes of an indian confederacy die, Tecumseh joined the British in the War of 1812 and was killed at the battle of Thames on Oct.5th, 1813. Submitted by: John Calloway
