WHITEWATER FALLS

NAME: Whitewater Falls
COUNTY: Winona
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 6
CLIMATE: snow and cold in winter, Hot and dry or humid summer
BEST TIME TO VISIT: summer
COMMENTS: Located near the banks of the Whitewater river, North of Elba and South of Beaver on a Bend on Gravel MN hwy 74. Nothing remains that I know of, Except the semi-hidden Whitewater Cemetery. This town along with nearly extinct Beaver was constantly ravaged by spring floods due to poor farming practices and Erosion, and was probably deserted as a result. Over 100 lived here in 1895.
REMAINS: Whitewater Cemetery

ca1890-1910? I'm too young to know anything. Submitted by: Bill Gensmer

Hello.

The listing for Whitewater Falls, MN needs a slight correction as to the location. It is described as being near Whitewater  cemetery, but the cemetery is quite a ways north of the ghost town site.

This 1896 map shows the actual platted location of Whitewater Falls in sections 27 and 34 of Whitewater Township, Winona County, Minnesota. It also shows the location of the cemetery, which is north of the townsite.
