COMMENTS:
Located about 6 mi south of US Rte 2 in
western North Dakota (about 14 mi west of Williston). Follow the signs to
Fort Buford State Park. REMAINS: numerous abandoned farm and residential buildings; a few people live in isolated mobile homes within the boundaries of the old village; there is no post office nor any services at the site. |

Buford is the village that used to be the residence of many of the civilian personnel associated with Fort Buford, the remains of which are located about 9 miles south of US Rte 2 (where the old powder house, the regimental HQ, and the military cemetery can still be visited: they are part of the state park).
