COMMENTS:
Directions to get to Temple:The townsite is about 7 miles NE of Ray and about 7 miles WSW of Tioga. You can take US Hwy 2 to the 109th Ave. NW/County Rd. 19 intersection and go north 3 miles. Then go west on 67th St. NW about 1000 yards and the townsite is there. It is visible from far off so you'll know when you're there. REMAINS: Church, school, half dozen houses and smaller outbuildings. |
The town was established when the Great Northern Railroad went through and the Post Office was moved there in 1908 from Haarstad. The Post Office closed in 1965. The BNSF Railway still runs past on the north side of the townsite along the original Great Northern right-of-way. Submitted by: Matt Rothchild |
