ASBURY PARK

NAME: Asbury park
COUNTY: Monmouth
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 2
CLIMATE: Cold in winter, hot in summer
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime(summer is the spookiest)
COMMENTS: Located off the nj parkway, this is a very unique ghost town.Asbury park is part of the jersey shore and at one time the main attraction to beach goers. But presently, due to corrupt politicians,it is almost completly deserted.
REMAINS: Dilapidated amusement park buildings, partially built structures, abandoned hotels
During the first half of the 20th century, asbury park was the place to be in the summertime, but slowly went down hill afterwords. It became a white trash town with plenty of bikers and the like. This gave the attraction a slumy feel to it and with other shore towns gradually becoming more popular, some of the towns businesses began to close. The town isn't totally barren, just the half along the shore where all the amusements were.Although the ghetto town isn't exactly densely populated either(it has alot of condemed buildings through out). The weirdest part about the city is that you look around at the clown faces painted on the walls, the boardwalk, the beach, etc. And you can almost hear the long lost laughter of children and see the ghosts of families that once enjoyed this northern most section of the New Jersey shore.
