Copper City is not only gone, its exact location is in doubt. All that is known about the town that once had a population of five hundred residents is that it had a thirty-ton smelter and was able to produce a daily carload of copper. Copper City was founded sometime during the 1880s and supported a school, hotel, stores and the usual number of saloons.
