COMMENTS: A living ghost town with a must see church
REMAINS: Many original buildings and a great historic church.

Golden's post office was established in 1880, and was discontinued in 1928 and has since been reinstated. Golden was a placer town in an area of many other towns of the same nature. Golden just happened to be the one that survived. The church here was constructed in the early 1830's and still stands today. In the late 60's there were many buildings still standing here but vadalism was quickly taking its toll. Today, Golden still lives but the placer gold of yesterday is long gone.
