COMMENTS: Rock Lake. Situated in the extreme NW corner of Roosevelt County and just south of Rancho. A little NE from Perry and NE from Krider.Got your bearings? REMAINS: Not at all. Even a tin can.

Rock Lake is mentioned one time in my reference book. Roosevelt County History and Heritage which may be purchased from the Chamber of Commerce for $5.00 plus $3.00 postage.Rock Lake was another of those settlements that was spawned by the Homestead act. As I research these little towns I wonder at the bravery of anyone who would move in and attempt to scratch out a living on that bare land. At that time in our history I think they were just grasping for anything a little better than they had. Given all the modern equipment and unlimited backing would still be doubtful if a person could make a living out there. Home of the brave is all I can say.
