SPUR LAKE. Ranching community 20 mi S of US 60 and 18 mi N of Luna, in a remote region in the foothills of Gallo Mts. Named for Spur Ranch and the lake nearby. Artificial lake 9 mi NE of Luna. Named for its shape, which resembles a spur on a riding boot. Later desgtroyed when cattle bogged down in the mud. Submitted by: Samuel W McWhorter
