NAME: Antelope Springs COUNTY: White Pine ROADS: 4WD GRID: 1 CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter. BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime. |
COMMENTS: Interesting country. REMAINS: Small Log Building |
Antelope Springs was a Pony Express stop beginning in 1860. The station was a victim of an Indian attack that destroyed the building. It was not rebuilt until the Overland Stage and Mail Company took over the line. The company built a small log station, repaired the Pony Express corrals, and used the site until 1869. Only a small log building remains at the site. Submitted by: Shawn Hall from his book Preserving The Glory Days: Ghost Towns And Mining Camps Of Nye County, Nevada Click here to purchase his book! |
