NAME: Babylon COUNTY: White Pine ROADS: 4WD GRID: 1 CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter. BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime. |
COMMENTS: Interesting country. REMAINS: A few buildings. |
During the late 1860s, a number of small camps sprang up around Hamilton. Babylon was one of the small camps. Babylon was an extremely cold camp because of its high altitude and miners were forced to keep fires going even in the middle of the summer. Only a few prospectors ever lived there and nothing material was ever constructed. Babylon was abandoned in 1969.
