BUZANES CAMP

NAME: Buzanes Camp
COUNTY: Lander
ROADS: 4WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime.
COMMENTS: Interesting country.
REMAINS: Ranch Buildings.

John Buzanes, who was from Greece, discovered gold in 1926. In September of 1927 Buzanes sold his property to the newly formed Magna Gold Mines Company for $200,000. A mining office, an assay office, two bunkhouses, and a cookhouse formed the core of the camp of 15 people and five buildings. Ore values fell dramatically during 1929 and mining was no longer profitable. Magna folded in 1930 and no other activity has taken place since. One of the bunkhouses still stands. The road to the site is quite rough and requires caution.
