Cloverdale was another stage line on the Belmont wagon road in the 1860s. The very prosperous Cloverdale Ranch was established during this time and played an important hospitable role for the weary stagecoach travelers. In 1880 a new station was built to accommodate the increased number of travelers. The Cloverdale Ranch is still in operation as are some of the original buildings.
