CURRIE WELL

NAME: Currie Well
COUNTY: Nye
ROADS: 4WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summers. Cool winters with occassional snow
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Winter, Spring, Autumn.
COMMENTS: Situated alongside the grade of the abandoned Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroad.
REMAINS: Low stone ruins, what appears to be a furnace.
A water stop along the Las Vegas & Tonopah Railroad. Located north of Mud Springs Summit at the southern edge of Sarcobatus Flat. Currie Well was an important water stop as southbound trains coming from Goldfield made their final climb over the Bullfrog Hills. Water source is a pungent, stagnate and mushy wet spot with a bit of grass. Scattered stone ruins within a hundred yard radius indicate some habitation. Submitted by: David A. Wright
