Grant City was born in 1868 and died in 1884. It was anything but spectacular during its sixteen years although the first two years brought expectations of a bright future. But like so many times before, the rich lode was destined to run out quickly and in 1884 the town was left to the ghosts. The site, while not large, is interesting and worth seeing. There is a small spring at Grant City and the water is excellent.
