NAME: Hogum COUNTY: White Pine ROADS: 4WD GRID: 1 CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter. BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime. |
COMMENTS: Interesting Scenery. |
Hogum’s population was around 25 in the late 1880s and lasted until the early 1900s when mining ceased. In 1911 Hogum experienced a bit of a revival when a new mining company took control of the district’s claims. The company built a boardinghouse, a saloon, and a store to serve the residents that had grown to about 50. However, the promise fizzled in the early teens and the camp was abandoned. Nothing substantial remains.
