COMMENTS: Old dam still in place, several cabins, one still in fair shape, mine is open, but unstable, mill in fair shape, and lake cable tram sill intact. Don't go so fast on road you miss the other sites. Along the way there are several old cabins and mills to see.
REMAINS: As above.
Johnson is a Tungsten mine opened in approximately 1907 or 1908, by Alfred Johnson. The Tungsten was brought out by cable tram, across the lake, and shipped to Salt Lake City for smelting. After WWI the mine was closed, but reopened again in the 1930's. Shortly after it reopened a massive snowslide wiped out operation, and it has been abandoned ever since.
