RAINS

NAME: Rains
COUNTY: Eureka
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Hot summer, cool winter.
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Anytime.
COMMENTS: Interesting country.
REMAINS: Private Property.

Built in 1874, the siding at Rains was used until the rails were pulled up by the Eureka-Nevada railroad in 1938. No settlement ever took place and there was no activity other than ranching. The siding’s name came from E. P. Raines who ran the Raines ranch where the siding was located. Many interesting buildings remain that are now on private property. Ask for permission before exploring.
