SEVEN TROUGHS and TUNNEL

NAME: Seven Troughs and Tunnel
COUNTY: Pershing
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 1
CLIMATE: Cool Winter, hot summer.
BEST TIME TO VISIT:
Anytime.
COMMENTS: A few residents.
REMAINS: Ruins of structures.

The town of Tunnel was started after Seven Troughs was in full production for the purpose of tunneling through the mountain and hopefully intersect the vein that was being mined at Seven Troughs. Much like the Sutro Tunnel near Virginia City it was
also hoped to provide drainage for the mines and an easier way to ship the ore.
There is not much left at Seven Troughs to see but there are a few foundations and street outlines. It is also a very rough road to get in, subject to flooding as it is in a very narrow canyon. At the mouth of the canyon there is the remains of another town which literally did wash away in a flash flood. That town was named Mazuma and all that is left is debris along side the road. One interesting object next to the road is an old safe that washed out of the bank. It is of course empty, but too heavy to move. Submitted by Digger Bob.
