Pleasant Valley was the site of many ranches beginning in the 1890s. The post office was the site of one of the ranches for a while then another followed by another and another throughout the years. The last and final location of a post office was at the Uvada Ranch beginning May 9, 1928 until June 30, 1944. Today, most of the ranches have been abandoned and are scattered throughout the valley with some vintage buildings remaining.
