Boggy Depot was established as a trading post in 1837 and got its first post office in 1849. It was an important frontier town and was located at the junction of 2 very important roads. In the 1870's, the railroad bypassed the town and the town moved about 3 miles away to the railroad. The new town still lives but the old town is now a state park.
