PIERCE

NAME: Pierce
COUNTY: McIntosh
ROADS: 2WD
GRID: 3
CLIMATE: warm to hot summer, mild to freezing winter
BEST TIME TO VISIT: Any season
COMMENTS: Pierce can be found off of I-40 directly west of Checotah, OK. There used to be a one room schoolhouse, old cottin gin, post office gas station,
REMAINS: Foundations and remnants of buildings UPDATE: This is an update for the current information on Pierce.  We attempted to visit the remains of the town this past week, and apparently someone bought all of the land with the abandoned cotton gin, school house, etc, and tore these buildings down, so nothing from the old town is remaining here today. Submitted by: Natalie Madaj
Pierce is still a town but only rural houses remain. The one room school house foundation remains, a cotton gin, remnants of the gas station, post office, and general store. After they moved the cotton gin the town kind of dissolved to nothing. Submitted by: Hannah Waller Galbreath
