GRID: 3
CLIMATE: cold wind, some snow, hot, muggy in summer
BEST TIME TO VISIT: spring,summer
COMMENTS: no residents, north of hwy 11 8 min drive. (Coon creek cove) 4wd is required in winter and rain, 2wd works in summer. Plenty of stuff left behind, great place for a metal detector.
REMAINS: foundations, bridges, abandoned farm implements
Was established after the land run, in 1886, and was a small neighboring farming community close to Kaw City. Population never reached more than a couple of hundred, and in 1969 was evacuated due to the completion of Kaw lake. Uncas is the spill way for the lake now, and sometimes floods when the lake is too full. Submitted by: William Wood
