(From BLM sign) Terrace was the largest of the Central Pacific towns built in Utah. It was established April 1, 1869 as the maintenance and repair headquarters for the entire Salt Lake division, which stretched from Ogden UT to Wells NV. Facilities included a small roundhouse and a switchyard. Population figures vary from a couple hundred to several thousand, depending whom was counted. The Chinese were generally excluded from the census, and some tallies counted registered voters only. Submitted by: Jim Aldrich | Terrace Courtesy Jim Aldrich |
